This course will help you develop and enhance your practical leadership, management knowledge and skills.
There is a choice of two pathways for this award:
- The Management pathway or the Advanced Practice pathway.
- The Management pathway is suitable for Deputy Managers / Managers.
The Advanced Practice pathway is geared towards senior practitioners / room leaders who would like to develop their career but wish to remain active practitioners within the management framework.
Mandatory Units for both pathways:
- Use and develop systems that promote communication
- Promote professional development
- Champion equality and inclusion
- Develop health and safety and risk management policies, procedures and practices in children and young people’s settings.
Management Pathway
Mandatory units:
- Understand children and young people’s development
- Lead practice that supports positive outcomes for child and young person’s development
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to support the safeguarding of children and young people
- Lead and manage a team within a children or young people’s work setting
- Lead practice in promoting the well-being and resilience of children and young people
Plus a choice of various option units to the required credits.
Advanced Practice Pathway
Mandatory units:
- Understand children and young person’s development
- Lead practice that supports positive outcomes for child and young person’s development
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to support the safeguarding of children and young people
- Develop health and safety and risk assessment policies, procedures and practices in children and young people’s settings.
Plus a choice of various optional units to the required credits. For both pathways the units will be made up of reflective accounts on your own practice; observations of your practice by your assessor; professional discussion with your assessor; verbal questions; portfolio of evidence.
Entrance requirements:
- Over 19 years of age
- Already hold a level 3 Early Years qualification or has extensive experience managing early years setting:

Assessment
Course Duration
The course will take approximately 200 hours to complete and will be assessed by a series of written assignments, which are submitted to your tutor for marking. There is no external examination required.
At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement by Educare Training & Consulting and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the details of all the units you have completed as part of your course).
The course will be endorsed by Council for Awards for Care, Health and Education UK.
